What I Seek
This song started out just as acoustic guitar and vocals. Partly inspired by the music of Jon Foreman, I thought cello could go great with it, so I sought the help of a fellow musician comrade, Kenneth Stewart, and he kindly lent his talents. When we recorded things, we did it in my bedroom/music studio during the pre-covid-vaccine days. We had some special circumstances for being cautious about covid, so we went about recording while wearing double masks. Ken knocked things out in about 15 minutes, even with his glasses fogging up.
Regarding the theme of this song, it partly touches on why I came to believe in the faith that I do.
A big thank you to Ken for his collaboration on this!
I’ve found a pearl
of greatest price
it costs everything I have
I must now
forsake all else
for this treasure I’ve found
just your touch heals me
in you I’ve found what I seek
all that is good
is from you
I find my life in its source
the things I give
over to you
it’s there I find they become whole
help me to trust
you’re trustworthy
you can do my life better than me
I’ve never known
someone like this
someone worth everything
